In the bustling heart of cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Barcelona, a new paradigm of urban living has emerged — co-living. Alohause is co-living solution that helps young professionals, students, and individuals experience city life. Through thoughtfully furnished rooms and apartments, we at Alohause create not just living spaces, but vibrant communities. That is, in fact, the origin of our name: we say “Aloha” to exploring the world, to meeting new people, and to feeling like home even outside of your comfort zone.
In this article, we invite you to step into the world of Alohause through the eyes of one of our tenants. We reached out to Jordan to tell her own, genuine story to guide others through her transformative co-living journey.
Tenant Takeover: Jordan’s Story
Hey there, I’m Jordan. I’ve always wanted to live abroad. I’m from Toulouse, France, and always dreamed of studying Create Writing in New York. I know, the cheesy “concrete jungle where dreams are made of” dream. But I couldn’t help it. I grew up watching Gossip Girl and Sex and the City and with lots of NYC Pinterest boards.
Fast-forward to me receiving my acceptance letter from NYU and realizing that it was all becoming real. College tuition was expensive, and so was living in the city. I knew no one there, but I had heard about Alohause from a friend’s friend stories. Co-living was IT for me, the solution to my problems. And oh, I’m so glad I saw those stories all these years back.
Nestled amidst the urban pulse, Alohause isn’t just a place to rest your head; it’s a home that breathes life into the very idea of co-living. The moment I stepped into Alohause, I knew this was no ordinary residence — it was a gateway to a community that thrived on shared experiences.
Picture this: a space that bridges the gap between solitude and socialization. My journey at Alohause was a mix of both. As I was moving abroad, I was anxious about making friends quickly, but also about making myself at home. I shouldn’t have worried as much, because everything flowed naturally in time. While my private room became my sanctuary, a place so aesthetic that belonged to my best Pinterest board, the common areas became the place for impromptu gatherings that transformed strangers into confidants. I met people who were going through the same things I was, and I felt less alone.
Whether it was going to the supermarket together, creating a chore wheel or visiting a museum, we bonded. We used to check out the Alo instagram account for announcements of new events in the city and just pop up there. Whatever was free and artsy, we didn’t miss. Some of the people I met there are my closest friends even now.
Adapting to a new city can be daunting, but Alohause guides you every step of the way. The application process felt like a breeze (especially doing it all from so far away), and the support I received during the transition was invaluable.
Obviously, the process had its ups and downs. I had never started from scratch, away from my family and my home city. It was all new, and it sometimes felt like too much. However, with my basic needs covered, the rest was up to me. I had a room that felt like my own, and opportunities to connect with people at the palm of my hand. I just had to get myself out there and seize those opportunities.
As a creative writer, I crave spaces that ignite my creativity. Alohause understood my needs, offering collaborative zones that quickly became my sanctuaries. Here, I found not just a space to work, but a community that celebrated my victories and shared my setbacks. Co-living isn’t just about sharing a roof; it’s about nurturing personal and professional growth.
As I reflect on my co-living journey, I can’t help but be excited. I keep choosing it because it’s convenient from every perspective. I can’t imagine being sick and not having my roommates to bring me soup. It’s no Friday without a movie night in the sofa. I can’t play a board game without placing a bet on who does the dishes.
And there you have it — my journey through the corridors of Alohause. Alohause, with its commitment to community and comfort, stands as a testament to the evolution of modern living. Alohause isn’t just about the room you live in; it’s about the community that lives with you. My story is just one chapter; countless others are weaving their tales here.
