Being a student can be challenging, and so any little piece of help is greatly appreciated. We wanted to give you some of our best student resources online so that they can hopefully be as helpful to you as they were for us.
Although you would think this resource is common knowledge, suprisingly many have never used it. It is hands-down the best resource for writing anything as a student, or even as a young professional.
You can write your drafts in Microsoft Word, and then easily copy-paste or download it into Grammarly. The program will then scan your text for any grammar mistakes, and give you a percentage on the quality of it.
The free version is usually enough if you are a good writer, but if you feel that you would need that extra guidance, the upgrade is about $11 a month. Although if you sign up for their newsletters, they tend to send out offers quite often.
Do not hand in any work without putting it into Grammarly first!
Almost everyone watches Youtube now, and anyone can find something they love on there. Youtube is often seen as a leisure time activity, but it is also a great learning tool.
More often than not, you doing well in a class is dependent on the Professor you get. And as we all know, not all Professors are great at teaching their subject. The best solution here is to search Youtube for videos on the topics you are struggling with. There is wide range of different Professors teaching all kinds of topics on Youtube, and you will most definitely find someone who will make sense for you.
Quizlet is a lifesaver when it comes to online exams, or just difficult homework. It does not matter what the subject is, you can find questions and answers for them. You can also create your practice Q/A for any test that you have coming up. We recommend downloading the app so that you can practice while on the train, or anywhere else you might be.
This is also a great tool to find answers if you find yourself stuck. Although you will find that some of the information on here requires a premium subscription, it is still a chance you will find just the answer you need. The website is full of notes, tests, Q/A´s, and other content that other students have uploaded. There is nothing you cant find on this website.
As the year is coming to an end, so is this college semester so we hope these resources will help you reach this year’s goals.
Also, if you are in need of a room in the new year, or knows someone who is, please reach out and we would be more than happy to accommodate. We offer rooms without the challenging renting process that internationals or students usually face in New York City.
Lastly, if you have any suggestions for other content you would want to see here on the Alohause blog, do not hesitate to reach out! We want to create content that is helpful and useful for students and young professionals living in New York, and so if there is anything you want to read more about, let us know.
